Who is the Guild of St. Margaret?

The Guild of St. Margaret of Scotland, Inc. is a vibrant collective of historical educators and reenactors dedicated to bringing the rich tapestry of Scotland’s history to life. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation in 2022, our mission is to entertain and educate the public through vivid historical reenactments and educational programs. We specialize in portraying the traveling court of King James VI of Scotland and I of England around the year 1603, the momentous year when he ascended the English throne.

Our activities span a wide range of historical recreations, including dueling, feasting, music, and games, all set within the framework of the rich cultural heritage of Scotland. We provide a dynamic learning environment at Scottish Games, Renaissance Faires, and educational events at schools, where attendees can immerse themselves in the past and gain a unique perspective on history.

Members of the Guild take on various roles within the reenacted court, from Ladies in Waiting and Courtiers to Ambassadors and members of the Royal Family. We are passionate about authenticity and offer support to members and attendees in crafting period-accurate attire, ensuring that each event is a deep dive into history.

Membership classes and requirements are laid out in our bylaws and can be found on our joining page.

If you do not have a period accurate outfit, we do have contacts to several costumers and companies and we will gladly help you in anyway we can. Several of our members may even loan you garb if you need it for a short period of time.

We are currently awaiting for the Federal and State Governments to give us final Nonprofit status; But we have been given preliminary status.
